Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we do not allow use of the website by those we determine are under the age of 13, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13.

Automatic recognition:
Our web server logs the IP address of visitors, as all web servers do. We use that information for user tracking and aggregate visit data. Additionally, if you have set your browser to accept “cookies’” you can be recognized by our site and logged in automatically, but it is for your convenience in logging in, and is not required for use of the site.

Email addresses:
We collect your email address when you register at our site, or if you communicate with us via email. If in your Profile you have elected to receive emails when someone else comments on a work or on your comment, you will receive an automatically generated email notice. Otherwise, we use your email address only to communicate with you regarding significant site or policy changes, or to request brief survey information. We never give, rent, sell, lease, or otherwise divulge your personal information to others. We may provide aggregate statistics about our members, traffic patterns, and related site information to reputable third-party vendors, but these statistics will not include any personally identifying information. We may release account information when we believe, in good faith, that such release is reasonably necessary to (i) comply with the law or a court order, (ii) enforce or apply this user agreement or (iii) protect the rights, property or safety of our users or others.

Other uses of your information:
The information we collect is used to track visitor preferences and the pages users access or visit, and to alert visitors to new areas that we think might be of interest to them when they return to our site. We also use it to notify visitors and members about updates to our website, and customize web page content based on visitors' browser type or other information.

From time to time, we may use member information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. You can access all of your information from your Profile page. Additionally, upon request, we will provide members with the information that we maintain about them. Members can access this information by emailing us at the above address.

Our website may contain links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over those other websites. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide while visiting such sites, and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution, and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

Stopping emails from us:
If you do not want to receive any email regarding the comments of others, you can change that setting in your Profile. If you want to stop any email from us in the future, please let us know by sending us email at the above address. We WILL remove you from our system and give you a final email to confirm that fact.

With respect to Ad Servers:
Because we try to bring you offers that might be of interest to you, we have relationships with other companies whom we allow to place ads on our web pages. As a result of your visit to our site, ad server companies may collect information such as your domain type, your IP address and click stream information.

Modification of These Policies and Terms of Use:
Storycasting reserves the right to change, at any time, at our sole discretion, the Terms under which this site is offered. You are responsible for regularly reviewing these Terms. Your continued use of the site constitutes your agreement to all such Terms.

Actors and authors are people too...
...and we are here to discuss their public body of work AND NOTHING ELSE. Actors’ and authors’ private lives are strictly off-limits. Referring to or attempting to discuss such things here will get you a warning, followed by a cancellation of your rights to cast or comment.

Rights in the Content you submit:
By posting your cast and comments, you are granting Storycasting a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, and worldwide license to use your posted Content in connection with the operation of the website, including, without limitation, the right to copy, distribute, transmit, publicly display, reproduce, edit, translate and reformat your Content, and/or to incorporate it into a collective work. When publicly displaying, reproducing, or distributing copies of your Content, Storycasting will make best efforts to credit your authorship. You grant Storycasting permission to use your screen name for such attribution purposes (since we don’t know your real name). You, likewise, agree to represent yourself accurately. You acknowledge that misrepresentation may lead us, in our sole discretion, to cancel your use of the website and delete any of your Content.

Conduct and personal responsibility:
By posting content to our site, you warrant and represent that you either own or otherwise control all of the rights to that content, including, without limitation, all the rights necessary for you to provide, post, upload, input or submit the content, or that your use of the content is a protected fair use. Other trademarks, service marks, graphics and logos used in connection with the website may be the trademarks of other third parties. Your use of the website grants you no right or license to reproduce or otherwise use any Storycasting or third-party trademarks.

Our use of celebrity names and likenesses:
The United States Copyright Act, which covers images as well as written materials, specifically allows for "fair use" of copyrighted material "...for purposes such as criticism, [or] comment...", which is clearly the function of the Storycasting website. Additionally, according to the Electronic Frontier Foundation's Bloggers' FAQ on Intellectual Property, "Freedom of speech rights protect "use of a public figure's name and likeness in a truthful way..." (http://w2.eff.org/bloggers/lg/faq-ip.php, "Questions about the Right of Publicity"). This is the basis for our protected use of actor names and images, since we are in fact discussing the public body of work of a public figure, which does not violate their Right of Publicity. We are not discussing their private life, and we are not using their image or likeness to promote or endorse any commercial product. Their appearance in a public discussion of their public body of work is therefore constitutionally protected free speech.
